Petrochemical Facility Pipe Rack Upgrade
Client: Petrochemical Producer
The Challenge
An aging petrochemical facility needed to add new process piping to existing pipe racks that were already near structural capacity. The challenge required precise load analysis and creative routing to avoid a complete pipe rack replacement.
Our Approach
Our structural engineers performed detailed load analysis of the existing pipe racks using STAAD PRO, identifying pockets of unused capacity. We designed targeted reinforcements and new piping routes that threaded through available space. Our steel detailers produced erection-ready packages coordinated with the facility's maintenance windows.
The Result
Successfully added 12 new process lines without replacing any existing pipe racks. Reinforcement cost was 30% of full replacement. All work completed within scheduled maintenance windows with zero production impact.
